18Maintaining friendships outside medicine means that when it all gets a bit too much you can escape, and being offered a second chance at being a student can mean you make far more of the opportunities offered to you than when you first left school. Overall I have found medicine to be fascinating and enjoyable. The career choices available once you are in the profession are extremely varied so finding your niche should be possible.
